Joni graduated magna cum laude from American University, Washington College of Law. Following law school, she clerked at the D.C. Superior Court for the Honorable Reggie B. Walton, who is now a federal judge on senior status at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. After her clerkship, she worked at the Alexandria Office of Public Defender, where she was ultimately promoted to Senior Asst. Public Defender. In 2009, Joni left the Public Defender’s Office to establish her own criminal defense law firm. She has experience handling a wide array of federal and state cases, from traffic offenses to complex white collar fraud to capital murder. She has won acquittals for her clients in both judge and jury trials and at the appellate level in the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court.
